Despre eveniment

The royal palace from Mogosoaia is very important in the whole of Brancovenesti culture and art and is the most vivid proof of the beauty of the authentic Brancovenesc style.

The complex consists of the palace itself, its courtyard with the watchtower, the cuhnia (kitchen), the guest house, the glacier, the tomb of the Bibescu family, the greenhouses, as well as the Sfantul Gheorghe church located near the walls of the courtyard.

The construction was completed in 1702, and after 1714 - when Constantin Brancoveanu was executed in Constantinople with his entire family - all the property was confiscated by the Ottomans, and the palace was transformed into an inn.

The entire history of the palace is troubled, it has suffered significant destruction and devastation throughout history. Among other events, on the occasion of the revolution of 1821, the royal palace was destroyed, being renovated between 1860-1880 by Nicolae Bibescu. On the occasion of the First World War, the palace suffered again, being restored by Martha Bibescu in 1927; looted after Nationalization, the palace was rebuilt after 1977.

Currently, the royal palace houses the Brancoveneasca Art Museum within the National Art Museum and is an important tourist attraction.
