Discover Carol Park and its surroundings

The story of Carol I Park began more than a century ago. Arranged in honor of the Romanian monarchy, Carol Park brought together - from the beginning - symbols of different cultures and political regimes that abounded in Romania.

The place on Filaretului Hill, once covered by vineyards, was inaugurated in 1906 on the occasion of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the reign of King Carol I and the 25th anniversary of the proclamation of the Kingdom of Romania. The idea of arranging the park belonged to Ion N. Lahovari, the Minister of Domains in the government of George Cantacuzino and the father of Princess Martha Bibescu.

Carol Park was laid out between 1900 and 1906, and its plans were made by the French landscape painter Edouard Redont.
