Jewish Neighborhood Tour

The Jewish community was once one of the most numerous and picturesque minority communities in Bucharest, and the Jewish neighborhood formed a compact residential area on the left bank of the Dambovita.

As a landmark, in the interwar period, in Bucharest, this community represented 11% of the city's population, and the neighborhood had as its central axis Calea Vacaresti and the beginning of Caii Dudesti.

Following the massive demolitions in the '80s, the Jewish Neighborhood was one of the most affected areas of Bucharest, many historic houses-monuments being demolished, and entire streets disappeared.
