Stargazing Experience for two

Discover the magic of the sky at night with a stargazing experience in Prahova county, in Paulesti.

You have the opportunity to explore the Cosmos, with the help of a professional astronomer. You can also see how the automated astronomical observatory built here works, part of the international  FRIPON network, for observing and monitoring meteors and bolides.

This experience offers participants complex and complete astronomical presentations. Its development is conditioned by the weather and will include the following stages:

- a short tour of the location with its presentation

- elementary explanations about astronomy, basic concepts, orientation in the sky, night orientation in nature by constellations and stars

- finding the latitude and longitude of a place on the map, using the stars, the Sun and two timers

- as it gets dark, (but the stars are not yet visible) there will be some presentations with the video projector on various astronomy topics - the Sun, the star next to us; The solar system and its composition; The evolution of a star - from birth to death; Stars, galaxies, metagalaxy; Astronomical instruments - classification and choice.

- visual astronomical observations of the most spectacular objects that can be seen in the sky during that period - Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, the Moon, Venus, the Pleiades, the Orion Nebula, double stars, the Andromeda Galaxy and/or other relatively easily visible nebulae and galaxies with amateur instruments. The observations are made outdoors, with an astronomical telescope

- the experience continues with a demonstration of working with the automated telescope in the observatory - how it starts, how we automatically choose and find an object in the sky, exposure of images and telescope guidance, how to achieve automatic focus

Requirements for participants:

Appropriate shoes and clothes;

Minimum age: 18 years (participants <18 years old must be accompanied by an adult);

A minimum of 4 participants is required for this experience.

Date held:

Weekly (Saturday, when the weather conditions allow) or on request (the date is determined according to availability);

Start time: 20:00;

Duration: 3 ½ hours (estimated);

Venue: Paulesti Astronomical Observatory, Prahova County.
