Despre eveniment
At the beginning of the last century, a new urban typology appears, the green island - an arrangement designed to address all social categories, in the center of which will be arranged a large green space.
In 1909, the Capital City Hall bought Ioanid's property from George Ioanid's successors (the first book publisher in the country) and carried out one of the most successful urban development projects in Bucharest - Ioanid District. And the mayor during which the Ioanid subdivision was made is Vintila Bratianu, the son of Ion Bratianu and the brother of Ion IC Bratianu. He himself will buy a lot, on which he will build a beautiful house in neo-Romanian style, which once housed the US Embassy.
The construction regulations established exactly the indicators that the buildings in this area had to respect, this being the reason for the homogeneity of the entire residential complex. One of the rules imposed on builders was related to the alignment and construction of house fences. Thus, it is observed the line placement of the houses, and the metal fence with masonry base offers a feeling of human-nature enterprise, hard to find in an urban agglomeration.
It should be mentioned that the villas in this area were built by well-known architects such as Petre Antonescu, Ion Berindei, Grigore Cerchez, Ernest Doneaud, Ion Mincu or Paul Smarandescu.
Come and find out the story of one of the most elegant and refined neighborhoods in Bucharest, from its historic garden, to a real museum of elitist outdoor architecture.
We will walk the streets Polona, Aurel Vlaicu, Dumbrava Rosie and Bulevardul Dacia, we will admire the sumptuous villas built by the great names of Romanian architecture and we will discover fascinating lands about this period in the history of Bucharest.
